Allstate beats with Q3 profit but auto CR deteriorates

Allstate reported higher operating profits for the third quarter
that beat Wall Street projections as it also continued its
aggressive capital management strategy in the period.
Operating profits of $610mn were 2 percent higher than in Q3
2014 and at $1.52 a share were ahead of analysts' consensus of
$1.31 a share.
The US insurer's combined ratio deteriorated marginally from
93.5 percent to 93.6 percent, however, despite cat losses that
almost halved to $270mn.
