43m US consumers are in debt collection over unpaid medical bills

One in five Americans have unpaid medical debts, according to a a new government report from the Consumer Financial Protection BureauA new government report shows that almost 20% of US consumers – nearly 43 million people – have unpaid medical debts that have gone into collection.That means one in five US consumers are in debt collection over medical costs.
