Trump victory a 'wake-up call' for austerity, says John McDonnell
Donald Trump's election should act as a "wake-up call" to the Government to use the Autumn Statement to ditch its austerity policy. Shadow chancellor John McDonnell said Brexit and the US elections were the result of an "old rigged economy" that produced "dead town centres" and "stagnant wages". Mr McDonnell said the Chancellor should help households struggling to get by instead of giving tax breaks to the rich.
