Thousands of convictions may be unsafe after evidence 'manipulation'

Thousands of convictions for crimes including drug-driving, murder and rape could be unsafe due to concerns over forensic evidence.Police chiefs have launched an urgent investigation after it emerged two employees at a forensic testing laboratory in Manchester were arrested on suspicion of manipulating data.The Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, James Vaughan, says "6,000 or more samples" taken in England and Wales may be affected.
