Theresa May gets standing ovations at start of US visit

Theresa May has been given three standing ovations by leading Republicans as she gave a speech at the start of her US visit. The Prime Minister evoked the relationship between Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan as she called on the US to renew its special bond with the UK. Countries in central and eastern Europe were free "because of the leadership of Britain and America, and of Mrs Thatcher and President Reagan", she said.
