Teachers Stage 24-Hour Walkout Over Cuts

Seven out of eight schools are "refusing to close" despite a 24-hour teachers' strike over funding, schools minister Nick Gibb has said. Members of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) are staging the strike as part of a long-running dispute with the Government over what it describes as the "the worst cuts in funding since the 1970s". Responding to an urgent question in the House of Commons about the strike, Mr Gibb said: "The industrial action by the NUT is pointless but it is far from inc
