Sun journalist Anthony France has payments conviction quashed

The only journalist with an outstanding conviction after a controversial investigation into payments to public officials has won an appeal against his conviction. Crime reporter Anthony France, 42, from Watford was accused of having a "corrupt relationship" with PC Timothy Edwards over four years during his trial at the Old Bailey in 2015. Following his original trial, Mr France was given a prison sentence of 18 months, suspended for two years, by judge Timothy Pontius.
