Storm Desmond Threatens Floods And Strong Winds

Snow and rain have caused travel disruption in parts of Scotland, as forecasters warn Storm Desmond is set to lash Ireland and the north of the UK. Heavy, sudden snowfall closed roads in in Midlothian, the Scottish Borders and parts of Edinburgh on Thursday night. Police described the weather as "extreme" and some fire engines had trouble reaching emergency calls, with one crashing into cars in Gorebridge, Midlothian.
