SNP's Michelle Thomson Quits Amid Police Inquiry

One of the Scottish National Party's rising stars has quit her frontbench job after police launched an investigation into property deals. Michelle Thomson, a successful businesswoman before becoming MP for Edinburgh West in May, was involved in the deals with a struck-off solicitor, Christopher Hales. Prosecutors have now instructed police to investigate "alleged irregularities" after the Scottish Solicitors’ Discipline Tribunal made a complaint.
