Scotland’s demographic time bomb as elderly population soars

SCOTLAND is facing a demographic time bomb as fertility rates plummet and the number of older people soars. With nearly a quarter of the population expected to be pensioners by 2043, experts yesterday warned of growingpressure on public services.
