Record number of NHS operations cancelled at last minute

In January NHS England urged hospitals to cancel operations in advance to free up beds.The number of operations cancelled at the last minute by NHS hospitals in the first quarter of the year was the highest since records began in 1994, official figures show.There were 25,475 such cancellations in the first three months of 2018, equating to 1.3% of all admissions, the highest proportion since 2005.
