Record Export Surge Gives Boost For Economy
UK exports surged in April, helping to narrow the trade deficit and offering hope of a brighter outlook in the months to come. By value, these rose by £2.2bn, or 9.1%, to £26.1bn, the fastest pace since January 2003, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. It helped Britain's overall trade deficit - the gap between all imports and exports - to narrow by about £200m to £3.3bn, a seven-month low.
