Rare £5 note worth £50,000 sent in Christmas card

A rare £5 note, which could be worth up to £50,000, has been found in a Christmas card in the Scottish borders. It is one of four notes engraved with a tiny portrait of the author Jane Austen, created by artist Graham Short as part of a project for the Tony Huggins-Haig Gallery in Kelso. The note was included in a Christmas card as a gift, but the sender did not know its true value.
