Railway Electrification Work To Restart

Work on the TransPennine Express Railway between Manchester and York and the Midland Mainline from London to Sheffield  was suspended in June. The move came after Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin raised concerns about spiralling costs and missed targets at Network Rail. But he has now announced that work will restart - meaning faster journey times and significantly more capacity between Manchester, Leeds and York.
