Policeman stabbed trying to arrest rape suspect in Liverpool

A senior policeman has commended the bravery of his officers after one of them was stabbed while trying to arrest a rape suspect. Four officers were on foot patrol in the Huyton area of Liverpool this morning when they recognised the suspect and attempted to detain him. The man, who was wanted for questioning over an incident in Slater Street on June 18, stabbed the officer several times before running away. A second officer chased and arrested the 18-year-old.
