People Missing After 'Severe' Fire In Shop

People remain unaccounted for after a "severe" fire broke out at a building in Newcastle city centre. Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service said it was understood there may be people on the upper floors of the building. Assistant Chief Fire Officer John Baines said: "The structural safety of the building will need to be assessed before we can enter the building to begin our investigations in conjunction with Northumbria Police and partners.
