Obesity Action Plan: How Strategy Was 'Watered Down'
Charity Action On Sugar has said the Government's obesity plan is "doomed to fail" amid claims that lobbying has led to the strategy being "watered down". In October last year, Public Health England made eight key recommendations to the Department of Health, calling for a ban on sugar products at supermarket tills and an end to junk food advertising aimed at children. It claimed that restrictions on price promotions for high-sugar food and drink could cut consumption by 6%.
