New plan to avoid cross-Channel congestion revealed

The Government plans to section off the entire southbound carriageway of a 13-mile stretch of the M20 in Kent to hold around 2,000 lorries in the event of severe cross-Channel congestion.The plan, codenamed "Operation Brock", was announced formally to Parliament on Monday and is to be delivered in time for Brexit Day next year.It followed the likely loss of a judicial review into the Government's favoured permanent successor to "Operation Stack".
