MPs poised to vote through plan for December election
Amendments seeking to extend vote to 16-year-olds and EU nationals are not selected. A general election in December may have passed its final major hurdle after amendments to an election bill seeking to extend the franchise to 16- and 17-year-olds and EU nationals were not selected for voting. The government had said it would pull the one-line bill seeking an election on 12 December if amendments allowing such moves were passed.
