Met Police warn public over time-wasting emergency calls

A hissing cat, the late delivery of a fridge freezer and faulty headphones are just some of the issues that prompted recent emergency calls to police. The police call them improper calls, but that hardly does justice to the bizarre reasons people find to call the emergency services. The Metropolitan Police says such calls waste operators' time, clog up the pressured 999 system and can prevent legitimate emergencies being dealt with quickly enough.
