Martin McGuinness announces retirement from politics
Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness has announced he will retire from politics as he deals with a "very serious medical condition". Mr McGuinness resigned as deputy first minister of the Northern Ireland Assembly just over a week ago over a botched renewable energy scheme - demanding the resignation of then DUP first minister Arlene Foster. At the time he said his health was not a factor but his Sinn Fein colleague Gerry Adams admitted he was "not well".
