Manchester And New York Bomb Plotter Sentenced
A Pakistani man who was plotting to blow up the Arndale shopping centre in Manchester has been sentenced to 40 years in a US jail. Abid Naseer, 29, had faced up to life in prison after a federal jury in New York convicted him in March of providing material support to al Qaeda and other charges. As he handed down Naseer's sentence, US District Judge Raymond Dearie said: "I know you're not what I'd say for any lack of a better word a 'typical' criminal.
