Male Smoking Rate At Lowest Level Since 1974

New data released by the Office for National Statistics  (ONS) showed 20% of men were smokers in 2014 compared to a peak of 51% in 1974. Average cigarette consumption has also reached its lowest number since 1976 - down from 16.8 cigarettes per day to 11.4. Penny Woods, chief executive of the British Lung Foundation, said the figures were "encouraging" but warned against complacency.
