Labour MPs expected to urge Corbyn to reconsider decision to back election

Several Labour MPs will urge Jeremy Corbyn to reconsider his backing for an early general election at a meeting of the parliamentary party on Tuesday evening.Corbyn has welcomed Theresa May’s decision to call an election, and the prime minister is widely expected to gain the two-thirds majority in the House of Commons necessary to hold a contest on 8 June.There are wider concerns that dozens of Labour MPs in marginal constituencies are at risk of losing their seats.
