House Price Growth Slows After Stamp Duty Rush
House price growth was slower during April, as the market settled after March's surge in buyers hoping to beat the Stamp Duty increase for owning a second property. Despite slower growth, the rise still sets a new high with an average UK house price of £202,436. Robert Gardner, Nationwide's chief economist, said the slowdown returns house price growth to the 3% to 5% annual range seen since last summer.
