Homes Could Lose Power Amid Birmingham Fire

Up to 40,000 homes could be left without power after West Midlands Fire Service requested a pylon be turned off while they deal with a massive fire. Western Power Distribution - who are responsible for supplies in the area - denied that the figure was as many, saying that up to 5,000 homes could be affected, mainly in the Sparkbrook area. The company said it would restore supplies as soon as it could, but it would depend on the fire service.
