'Hazardous' Spill After Motorway Tanker Crash

A tanker carrying a hazardous substance has overturned on the M56 in Cheshire causing huge tailbacks. A 400m cordon is in place around the scene of the crash and motorists within view of the vehicle have been advised to turn off their air conditioning systems and close their windows. On Twitter, Cheshire Police said they were still trying to get vehicles off the motorway - which was closed in both directions between junctions 11 and 15 - several hours after the crash.
