One of the Hatton Garden heist gang knew nothing about the mystery raider Basil until the start of the trial months later. Plumber Hugh Doyle, convicted of laundering the proceeds, took notes during the prosecutor's opening speech. Basil had a key and let the others into the building where they drilled through the wall and stole jewellery worth £14m, gold and cash, most of it still missing.
