Hammond plans to spend £1.3bn on road improvements

A major programme of road building and improvements will be announced in the Chancellor's Autumn Statement, the Treasury has said. Philip Hammond will say on Wednesday that the Government is planning to free up £1.3bn for the UK's road network. According to the Treasury, road congestion costs the UK £13bn every year.
