Fairhead steps down as chairman of BBC Trust

Rona Fairhead is stepping down as chairman of the BBC Trust after just two years in the role. In a statement Ms Fairhead, who has held the role since October 2014, said: "The Prime Minister strongly encouraged me to take part in the new appointment process for what would be a new four-year term as BBC chairman. Ms Fairhead was asked by then-PM David Cameron to do another four years in the role after the BBC White Paper was published in May this year.
