EU Referendum Debate Contained 'Glaring Democratic Deficiencies'

Voters were left feeling "ill-informed" and disengaged by the EU referendum debate because of "glaring democratic deficiencies", a new report has found. The Electoral Reform Society (ERS) said it found a "root and branch review" is needed on how future referendums are carried out. It found voters thought both the Leave and Remain campaigns became increasingly negative and that high-profile political figures, including David Cameron, turned people off the process.
