Dow Jones sinks more than 500 points on China growth fears

Anxiety about slowing growth in China gripped investors around the globe, clobbering stock and commodity markets. While in London the FTSE 100 index suffered its worst decline in eight months yesterday, it was a near blood bath in New York where the Dow Jones index lost a full 531 points, or 3.13 per cent, its biggest single-day decline since 2011.
