Doctors reveal 40 'unnecessary' NHS treatments and tests
Doctors are offering patients too many unnecessary tests and treatments, senior medics have warned. Plain old tap water is just as good as saline solution when it comes to cleaning cuts, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges has said, while X-rays and plaster casts are not always useful in some patients' cases. Professor Maureen Baker, chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners, described the report as "a dose of common sense".
