Bulk Data Interception 'Vital' For National Security, Review Finds
Controversial powers for the bulk collection of data are crucial to the nation's security, an independent review has found. David Anderson QC headed up a team which examined whether the operational case for the contentious powers contained in the Investigatory Powers Bill had been made. The review concluded bulk interception was of "vital utility" to the security and intelligence agencies and alternative methods fell short of providing the same results.
