Astrophysicist Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell donates £2.3m prize to boost diversity in science

A British astrophysicist has donated £2.3m towards increasing diversity among leading scientists.Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell was awarded the seven-figure sum after winning the Breakthrough Prize for her work on the discovery of pulsars, and her lifetime of scientific achievement.Dame Jocelyn said she did not need the "shocking" financial reward from the Breakthrough Prize and hoped the money would be used to support female and ethnic minority physicists.
