Army Deployed As Floods Put More Power At Risk

The Army has been deployed in Cumbria and people in other areas hit by Storm Desmond are picking up the pieces after a month's rain fell in a day. Torrential rain and strong winds have caused widespread flooding, road closures and power cuts to tens of thousands of homes in the northwest of England. Many homes and roads remain flooded in Scotland and many parts of Ireland are also underwater with dozens of rivers around the British Isles at their highest recorded levels.
