Alison Saunders to quit as director of public prosecutions

The attorney general’s office has confirmed Alison Saunders will leave the Crown Prosecution Service.The director of public prosecutions, Alison Saunders, is quitting when her five-year contract finishes at the end of this year, it was confirmed on Sunday.Saunders, who has faced repeated criticism during her time as head of the Crown Prosecution Service, did not seek an extension of her contract and will leave to take up a post with a private law firm.
