Tokyo 2020 hopes to source gold, silver and bronze medals from recycled electronics

Highly-piled landfills of discarded consumer electronics could be the source of the next Olympic medals with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics toying with gathering the precious metals required from waste.
Nikkei likened the proposed recycling scheme to an “urban mine” claiming that using precious metals from mobiles and other electronics is an idea under serious consideration from the government.
Discussed by organisers, the government and private companies in June, the scheme would
