Tencent buys Clash of Clans developer Supercell for $8.6bn
Chinese media giant Tencent has bought Clash of Clans developer Supercell for $8.6bn.
The deal, reported on The Drum five days ago, will see the media conglomerate acquire a 73 per cent share in the Finnish games firm from Japanese telecoms company SoftBank.
Expected to be finalised in Q3 2016, the acquisition will give Tencent an immediate global footprint and access to the 100 million daily players of games such as Clash of Clans, Hay Day and Boom Beach.
