Pound latest: Sterling slumps as Merkel tells Johnson Brexit deal ‘virtually impossible’

THE POUND has plunged to a one-month low after Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal was dealt a hammer blow when German Chancellor Angela Merkel said a deal between the UK and EU is “essentially impossible, not just now but for ever”.
