Thorlux Lighting marks 90 year anniversary

Today, Wednesday, 26th August 2026, marks exactly 90 years since the formal incorporation of FW Thorpe Ltd, now known as FW Thorpe Plc, the company behind Thorlux Lighting.
Thorlux’s founder, Frederick William Thorpe, and his son, Ernest, initially designed and manufactured vitreous steel ‘over-lamp’ reflectors – products that were a runaway success. Early marketing materials promised “FOR EASY MAINTENANCE – THE BEST” – a maxim the firm still lives
