Navigating the UK PFAS ban

PFAS chemicals, widely used in firefighting foams, are currently under scrutiny due to their environmental impact and health risks. These ‘forever’ chemicals do not degrade easily in the environment and can lead to a range of health issues.
Across the European Union, PFAS is already being phased out of firefighting foam and will be banned in most scenarios by 2030. After a six-month consultation in the UK, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is also investigating a ban and expected
