Dame Judith Hackitt calls for building safety reform built on competence, accountability and continuous learning
“Competence is not just about knowledge and experience. It is about what you do with that knowledge and experience,” said Dame Judith Hackitt, who led the UK Government’s independent review of building regulations and fire safety following the 2017 Grenfell Tower disaster.
Hackitt was speaking at CIBSE Building Safety 2026: Delivering Safer Buildings in Practice, held on 17 September at The Building Centre in London.
