Sigh. More brinksmanship is promised in 2020 with the new EU chief Ursula von der Leyen saying 11 months isn’t long enough to agree a deal on the UK’s future relationship with the EU. The UK sort-of leaves the EU on 31 January 2020 and will remain in the customs union and single market until the end of the year, with an option to stay within those arrangements for a further two years.
