Alysa Liu – skating a singular path

American figure skater Alysa Liu won the Olympic gold in both women’s singles and in the team event in show-stopping style. After missing out on medals in the previous Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022 she retired from the sport citing burnout but returned in better form than ever last year. She was a prodigy who started skating at five and became the youngest U.S. women’s champion at 13. She was born on 8 August 2005 in Clovis, California, with a lawyer father who fled China
