Superman and his contemporaries launched a fascination withtechnological superism that continues today. Here were individuals whosebodies and their capacities were somehow warped through being exposedto technology (the Flash); augmented by technology (Batman); ortransported from one environment to another by technology (Superman).There is an underlying narrative in all their stories that treatstechnology as a source of powers that would traditionally have beendescribed as divine. But, like Prom
