Wayne Rooney saw his spot kick saved in a penalty shootout as his DC United side were knocked out of the MLS play-offs by Columbus Crew.
The 33-year-old had inspired the Black and Red into the play-offs after joining the club when they were bottom of the Eastern Conference.
The Washington club were favourites to beat the Crew given their form going into the game but the two teams couldn’t be separated over 120 minutes in a 2-2
