Powerful typhoon blows off Philippines, threatens Taiwan

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Philippine forecasters have warned fishing boats not to venture out to sea and commercial ships to watch out for big waves as a powerful typhoon roars off the country's northeastern coast.
