Get Ready for the Perseid Meteor Shower!

We are now less than a month away from the peak of the annual summertime display of shooting stars known as the Perseid meteor shower. Assiduous observers have already begun to see members of the Perseid meteor stream — unusually early, as the shower's forerunners do not usually begin to make their appearance until the third week of July. The meteors appear to radiate from the constellation of Perseus — hence the name Perseid.
