Tiny blobs of human brain cells are grown in a lab with rudimentary 'eyes' that can detect light 

Scientists in Germany have developed primitive 'eyes' in spherical masses of human brain tissue, known as brain organoids. The optic cups have lenses, retinas, corneas and can see light.
